World Book Day
Copyright/fotograf: Stefan Tell
World Book Day is a yearly event, celebrated April 23rd, organised by UNESCO as a worldwide tribute to books and reading. According to UNESCO, April 23 is a symbolic day for literature since on that date 1616 both Shakespeare, Cervantes and Inca Garcilaso de la Vega died. Of course we want to celebrate books and reading in our school as well!
Since April 23rd is a Saturday this year we will celebrate on Friday with various activities in the library.
For example:
-
Discuss books with IEGS Literature Club over fika (afternoon)

Books, Books, Books! And some other ideas for the break
For a few years now autumn break has been called reading break. A break spent hiding from the autumn weather catching up on the reading you did not have time to do during school weeks.
But what to read? Obviously what first comes to mind are the horror stories that will match your Halloween outfit. In the school library you can find a selection of classic horror books like Dracula, Selected tales by Poe and Pet Sematary as well as easyread horror stories with a twist like the Goosebumps collection. If you want to explore more Goodreads has a Halloween Book List with many different genres.

The motivation from the Swedish Academy reads: “for her unmistakable poetic voice that with austere beauty makes individual existence universal”.
Books with poems by Louise Glück are on the way to the library and hopefully available for borrowing before autumn break.

The Internet and our devices have become even more important in our lives as they are our key to the outside world, not only searching for information and news but these days also replacing physical interaction with other people. The web is full of information and people who want you to listen to them and react to their opinion. It is certainly not the lack of information we are suffering from.
For example, it is very easy to be
